Meet June!
This sweet girl has been through a lot. She came to the rescue pregnant and later had 3 kittens who she unfortunately lost to panleuk. Our strong June barely made it herself and required many days where we didn't know if she would make it or not. This resulted in June spending 6 weeks living by herself in quarantine.
She didn't know how to be a house cat at all when she got here. She learned to trust her human and has come such a long way! She didn't even know how to drink out of a bowl properly and just spilled it everywhere and licked it up. Now she knows how to go to the fountain when she wants to drink. You can tell she came from a farm and was living with other cats because she would call out to the other resident cats to come to her. It took her months to venture out of her room where she felt confident watching out the window everyday where she would wait patiently for her foster Mom who worked slowly with her.
Fast forward to today and June loves to be brushed and scratched behind the ears and she will even roll over now to have her tummy rubbed. She has a white patch on her chest and the cutest two white whiskers that are so adorable on her face. She has the cutest meow. She is excellent at using the litter box. She prefers kibble which she eats by herself in her room but has recently been coming out with the other cats to eat.
She was initially fearful of the resident dogs but has grown used to them and now shares her foster Mom's bed with them. She is still cautious though. She loves the companionship of other cats. When six foster kittens arrived they taught June how to play! Now she plays with small balls and toys.
June is tentative and cautious at first which is normal for cats that lived outside and were worried about predators. When uncertain about things she hides but will come out in her own time when she is sure things are safe. She doesn't hide for too long because she loves attention too much and loves to purr and is quite chatty with the cutest call.
June would do best in a smaller place or somewhere that she could be initially restricted to so she doesnt go into hiding. She would prefer the company of another feline and best not to be with smaller children who could scare her. She might be ok with a respectful smaller dog or a very gentle one.
If you are looking for the true feel good rescue experience June is your gal! She is making more and more progress everyday with her new indoor cat life. She just needs someone patient who understands that she still needs a bit of time to reach her full potential and understands that she is learning every day how to be a house cat! She is definitely a snuggle bug and doesn't like to be too far from her human.
She spends quite a bit of time napping so would be fine with someone who works as long as they had lots of attention for her when they are home or another feline friend. She is currently residing with kittens Willow, London, Marjorie, Betty, and Cornelia and would love to go with one of them if you have room for two. But she would also make a great companion for another cat if introduced properly.
She really loves those tube cat treats and her foster Mom is sneaky and puts it on top of her wet food that she isn't quite used to yet.
