Meet Grace!
Queen Grace came to the rescue alongside 18 other cats who we affectionately called The Queens. They were rescued from a backyard breeder that had more than 100 cats caged for life for the purpose of breeding. These cats never saw the light of day, breathed fresh air, or knew anything other than being used for profit. These breeding females (and a few castrated males) were brought into our care and quarantined together until they were able to be placed in loving foster homes. Each cat has its own unique trauma that they have worked through in order to be ready for adoption. These Queens deserve the world they should have always had and we will ensure they have a spoiled life from here forward.
Queen Grace (aka Gracie) is doing well considering her rough start to life. She is also believed to be around 5 years old, so a bit older than the other "Queens" who were rescued from the above situation. She has recently made a fair bit of progress since her spay which has been lovely. She is still very scared and quite severely traumatized, she can’t be touched or handled and she will definitely still run away and flinch if approached. However, Gracie has started to walk around her foster home more freely and has become great friends with the resident cats.
Gracie needs to find the perfect home with someone who is willing to be patient with her and be accepting that she may not be a cuddly cat for a while, if ever. With this being said, she is great cat with no bad behaviours in the slightest, a very respectful house guest. Suprisingly, she is relatively playful and she loves the other cats at her foster home as well as the small resident dog there. Gracie has also recently taken up bird watching so a nice window perch or cat tree by the window would be a must for her!
We believe Gracie would do best in a home filled with other friendly pets for her to have companions and mentors to show her the ropes of how to live a happy, more trusting life with humans as friends. She will be the perfect companion for your pet and hopefully, eventually you too!
Please note that due to years of being trapped in ammonia filled cages Grace may have on and off respiratory flares that can be managed with Lysine.
