Meet A & A!
Meet Aaron & Abba!
At 17 years old, these lifelong siblings and best friends are ready for their forever home together.
Aaron and Abba have been together since the day they were born. These beautiful Ragdoll x Siamese siblings have spent all 17 years of their lives side by side, and there is no question that their next chapter will be together too.
They are remarkably easygoing senior cats who have settled beautifully into a busy foster home with children, other cats and a dog. They don’t need a perfectly quiet house — they simply need a loving family, cozy places to sleep, and each other.
Aaron:
Aaron is the social one of the pair and one of the most affectionate senior cats you could meet. A stunning lynx point Ragdoll x Siamese, Aaron wants to be wherever his people are. He follows his foster family around the house, sleeps with them at night and happily settles onto a lap whenever one is available.
And at 17, he certainly hasn’t slowed down as much as you might expect. He can still jump onto beds, couches and chairs with no problem and loves laser pointers, string toys and catnip mice.
He’s wonderful with other animals. After initially figuring out his place in the resident-cat hierarchy, he now happily coexists with the other cats and can often be found sleeping on the same couch or bed as them. He also does wonderfully with the family’s respectful dog.
Aaron has an especially sweet relationship with his foster family’s four-year-old daughter, who calls him her “baby doll.” She gently carries him around, cuddles him while they read or watch movies, and Aaron seems perfectly happy to be her companion. He would do well with children who understand how to respect a cat’s boundaries and his age.
His one naughty habit? He’s a food thief. He has been known to investigate the garbage and recycling for interesting scraps and has more than once managed to steal a container that held ground beef before proudly running upstairs with it. He has also been known to steal food right off your plate while trying to look unsuspecting and cute.
Aaron likes being brushed, which is helpful because his coat is naturally a little oily and clumped these days due to his age and managed medical conditions.
Abba:
Abba is a chocolate point Ragdoll x Siamese and a very different kind of cat from her brother. She is quiet, independent and incredibly low maintenance. Abba doesn’t need constant attention from her humans. She simply needs one spot in the home that she knows is hers.
In her foster home, that safe place is an unused office. She has everything she needs there and spends most of her day relaxing in her cat bed, on the office chair or in the sunshine. The door stays open, and she’ll occasionally wander into the hallway before returning to her favourite spot. She doesn’t need to be shut away, she just needs somewhere she knows is safe.
Mealtimes are when Abba becomes especially social. She happily accepts pets while her wet food is being prepared, but otherwise she’s very content doing her own thing. We think Abba would do especially well if her safe space in her new home were a bedroom shared with her adopter. She could come out and build a relationship on her own terms, especially at night when the house is quiet. She doesn’t need to be rushed, she just needs someone willing to let her decide when she’s ready.
Aaron and Abba’s bond is undenialable.
After 17 years together, he is Abba’s familiar and her source of confidence. He’ll often go into her room to curl up beside her for a nap. She doesn’t follow him around, but knowing he’s nearby helps her feel safe enough to get up, explore, eat and drink. They need each other.
Senior care:
Despite being 17, both cats are doing remarkably well, and their day-to-day care is very manageable. Aaron has kidney disease and hyperthyroidism, both of which are currently being managed, but it should be understood that he is receiving end of life care. He gets kidney-friendly wet food with extra water mixed in for hydration, along with his regular food, fresh water and a fountain.
His thyroid medication is simply applied to his ear twice a day, and Aaron is an absolute champ about it. No fuss, no wrestling, just an ear massage with medication and on with his day.
Both cats have some normal senior changes, including slightly cloudy eyes and some dental tartar, and both have had dental cleanings in the past.
Because of his age and chronic conditions, Aaron is considered to be on hospice/palliative care. But you certainly wouldn’t know it from watching him. He still plays, jumps onto furniture, follows his people around, cuddles and occasionally attempts to steal chicken from the recycling.
He is very much enjoying life.
Their forever home:
Aaron and Abba don’t need a perfect retirement home. They’re already living in a busy household and doing beautifully. They need someone who will give Abba a safe space and the time to build trust, continue Aaron’s simple medication and dietary routine, and most importantly - keep these two siblings together.
Their adoption fee is a donation to Arthur Animal Rescue.
They’re 17, but they’re not finished living. There are still sunny spots to find, meals to enjoy, laps to curl up on, toys to chase and people to love. And after 17 years, there is still each other.
Could you be the person who gives Aaron and Abba the loving forever home they deserve?
